Tyler Stallings is a writer and curator focusing on contemporary art. His essays have been published in numerous books, exhibition catalogs, and periodicals. Exhibitions that he has organized focus on technology and new media in art, on cross/trans/inter-national issues, on the phenomenology of the body, popular culture, and on photography and painting issues. Presently, he is the director of UCR Sweeney Art Gallery at University of California, Riverside. He also writes personal essays that explore everyday life from odd angles, but with an emphasis on our lives being on "display." He is also a visual artist who is a photorealist painter whose current work explores the intersection between photography, painting, sculpture, and digital imaging.
